HALLOWEEN is right around the corner and if you don't want to spend a fortune on costumes, you're in the right place. Getting a costume together can be hard. Whether it is for yourself or your children or whoever, Halloween doesn't have to be about spending so much money on clothes that might not even be worn again.
It can be so much easier than that, and the costume you need might even be sitting in the back of your closet. After Jenna Ortega's incredible performance as Wednesday Addams, it's only right that this article honours her. For an easy Wednesday Addams outfit, you absolutely do not need to buy the black dress we always see her wearing. Any black dress will do.
I used a strappy runched black dress and styled it to have the Wednesday Addams effect. Doing this was as simple as adding a white button up underneath, which somewhat imitates the white collar that is part of the traditional Wednesday dress. The tie was a personal choice to lift the outfit and bring it together but it is not necessary.
Of course hair in pigtails is a must because how else does any version of Wednesday do her hair? Plain black tights and boots are an easy finish. You can always add accessories to further elevate the outfit but that is a personal choice. Wednesday Addams doesn't really wear jewellery but it is easy to add some silvery and make the outfit more gothic.
So there you have it. An easy outfit for Wednesday Addams without a single penny going towards it.
Another easy makeshift outfit can be Daphne from Scooby-Doo. All you need here is a purple outfit. Whether it's a dress, or a blazer and a skirt or even purple trousers and a top. Daphne can have any of it. The shade of purple doesn't matter too much either. I went for a sparkly purple dress. The thing with Daphne is she might have one singular outfit, but sometimes it changes up depending on the episode. However, it is always a purple outfit with a green accessory. In this case, a stunning purple dress and a purple/ green scarf as a headband did just the trick. And for those of you who are worried, you do not have to be ginger to dress as a character with red hair! It's 2023, and you can dress as whatever character you like, regardless of how different you may look to it.
For the hair, a small puff in the front does the trick. Hide any fly aways or clips under a headband which can be purple or green. I only had this purple/ green scarf which I used as a headband but if you have a green scarf and a purple headband, you can absolutely wear both.
From here a few accessories don't hurt but it is entirely optional.
It's as easy as that. You have a whole costume for Halloween without spending any money on an outfit you may never wear again. What hidden character costumes are in the back of your closet?
