Hello You. I’m back with the latest season of your favourite psychological thriller. This time Joe doesn’t seem quite as murderous at first. In fact, he will make you believe that he has been framed. For once, Joe Goldberg is innocent. He’s just a good person that has done some bad things. And this time, we aren’t in America anymore. We are in London. Joe is living out his best life with a job that is absolutely perfect for him. An English professor at a university. He is surrounded by people that love to read and appreciate academics. Even his neighbours are intellects. So what could go wrong?
Previously, we have sympathised with Joe. We have understood why he had to do what he did to survive. Because that’s all it was. A matter of survival and love. His epic trauma created a character so psychotic that the audience could believe he was a good person deep down. But does the same apply for now?
To start with, who is You? You were Marienne. The woman that Joe left his son for. He travelled around half the world to find you. Because he knew that you were it. You are the one for him. Joe does everything he is doing for love. He even left You alone when You cried for Your life. Your daughter's life. Marienne, You were everything. Joe gave up everything for You. He even changed. Turned a new leaf. Stopped the killing and tried to make new friends. So why has he been framed for murder? Does somebody know what he used to be like? Does someone want him to own up for his crimes? Who are You? Who has framed the new and improved Joe Goldberg, now known as Joseph Moore? He is really trying. He has made new friends.
His neighbour is an intelligent, rich and powerful woman with equally rich friends. Her boyfriend takes Joe to a party where he meets all of them, drinks too much and forgets everything. The next morning the body of the rich neighbour's boyfriend is on Joe’s kitchen table with a knife in his chest. What does this mean? You have to be one of the rich right?
A pattern follows. The season continues with a few members of the rich friend group being killed off here and there. You get a name for Yourself. You are the Eat the Rich killer. And we all know that Joe hates the rich too but these are his friends and someone is trying to frame him. He can’t remember much of that night apart from talking to Rhys Montrose, runner up for Prime Minister. But You couldn’t be him. He was the only real and down to Earth person there. The rest of the rich have their heads in the clouds and use money to see straight so it's got to be one of them. Watch season 4 and together, we can find out who You really are.
