Looking for a funny and light hearted comedy to watch? This anime series is filled with fun banter and even some moments that break the fourth wall.
Saiki the psychic lives in a normal world of people who are completely oblivious to his powers. The anime is about how he struggles to blend in with the rest of the world as a regular teenage boy. His difficulties include all of those that consider him a friend. He must hide his powers from the world and each time he realises he stands out he alters the world to make him seem less noticeable. For example, his hair is bright pink when everyone else was once a natural hair colour, so Saiki made it so that anyone could get a random hair colour.
The boy makes himself appear so incredibly average and yet he still receives unwanted attention from not only his friends but girls too. The most beautiful girl in the world can get any man's attention but not Saiki. Saiki won’t give her the time of day because he can hear what she thinks. So naturally, she is in love with him. This only adds to his troubles of course.
Every conventional feature of anime that does not apply to real life is Saiki’s doing. From instant healing to considering the controlling devices on Saiki’s head as fashionable hair pins. The most fun part about it is that Saiki seems to know that he is in an anime show. On occasion he talks to the audience, adding to the entertainment. Some could even consider the show more cartoon than anime simply because of the humour within the plot.
This fun and playful humour goes on throughout the entire two seasons and can be found on Netflix. Or if you are more of a reader, there is always the option to read manga. There are 26 volumes to the Disastrous life of Saiki. K and trust me, they will never get old.
